I tried to choose the best photos to put on each of the pages. For the dominant photo, I was trying to find the best action shot which included the soccer ball and players running towards or kicking the ball and showing their front not their back. For other photos, I used the photos that were candid which meant that people weren't looking at the camera directly. I also tried to use photos that weren't repeating and everyone in general, not just the people I knew or wanted to put.
These 15 images were taken during Week Without Walls in Jeju Island on day 2, in the aquarium (aqua planet). The pictures are from when we arrived there and until when we are going back to our buses. I mostly took pictures of Christine since I was going to places with her and some pictures were other girls that we met in the middle of exploring the aquarium like Ashley Suh and Elisa Chen. I just took pictures of them enjoying the aquarium and having fun watching different kinds of marine animals. The images have to be in order of the things that happened so that it makes sense and story goes in order. If the images aren't in order, the story won't make sense. (right) Compositional Techniques: close-up (Christine)/wide-angle (other people), rule of thirds We were asked to capture a situation from at least 3 different perspectives which were wide angle, medium, and close-up shots. This is important because depending on the perspective the story can change. I decided to take a picture of my mom playing the piano because I just thought that the situation would be interesting to take a picture of. This challenge was enjoyable since I was able to take picture so it was in different perspectives. Wide Angle Medium Close-up
My subject is me when I was in kindergarten. The major character is obviously me. This was my kindergarten picture back in the U.S. and my mom is watching me put my bag in my locker-ish bin and organize the supplies. The objects that help tell the story are my classmates name on the top of the wood and the bags i'm holding. The bags I'm holding shows me that I am trying to put my bag away. This was in 2011 because that was when I was in kindergarten. The age of my subject is important since my mom wouldn't have stayed and watched me if I was older (only if it was my first day maybe). The location of my story would mean something to my subject since if the location wasn't kindergarten, my mom wouldn't been here. Shooting the location would strengthen the story since you would be able to know the exact place. I am documenting this story since this picture is important and impactful to me. It was my first experience of going to an American kindergarten in the U.S. The viewer will also be able to think back to when they were in kindergarten and think about their memories again.
