During Technology class, we have learned and made projects about Typography. The definition of typography is 'the style and appearance of printed matter'. There is a quote about typography: "Each font has a personality and a purpose". You might not understand this. This means for example, there is a font called Comic Sans. The purpose was for the little comic book style help speech bubbles, but now it's popular for use with young children. The personality was intended to be friendly and casual. There are 5 different fonts we have learned in Technology class which are Serif, San Serif, Monospaced, Script/handwritten, and Novelty. First, Serif has feet for each of the letters, and is usually used in print. Second, San Serif doesn't have feet, they are used on the web and they are great for headlines, titles, and smaller chunk of texts. Third, Monospaced is a type of font were all the letters takes up the same amount of space and is mostly used in coding. Next, Script/handwritten is cursive, handwritten, or calligraphic, and it's sometimes hard to read. Last, Novelty is good attention getters, popularity comes and goes. Typeface ComparisonWhile doing Typeface Comparison project, we were supposed to find a font for each of the 5 different kinds of font: Serif, San Serif, Monospaced, Handwriting and Display. I used the sentence 'I love food' for all the types of font. The font I used for Serif was Prociono which had feet under. For San serif I used Open Sans. I used Bahiana for Monospaced, Calligraffitti for Handwriting, and Ribeye for Display font. Before we submitted, we had to use C.R.A.P (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity) to make it more neat. Word PortraitsFor Word Portraits Project, we just had to find different fonts and think of the word that fits the font and a word that doesn't fit with the font. One of the font I used was called 'Butcherman'. It matched CREEPY very well but it definitely did not match with HAPPY, since it was like the antonym of the word creepy.
